TECHNOLOGY : MORE ON TECH : TV Guide Channels Info to AOL
TV Guide Inc. is becoming the main provider of TV program listings to America Online Inc., the companies said. TV Guide will supply the online service with TV listings and synopses of episodes. In return, TV Guide will receive prominent placement in eight AOL Channels, or topic areas. Its listings also will be found on three other AOL-owned properties: AOL.com, CompuServe and Netscape Netcenter. No money will change hands in the agreement, a TV Guide spokesman Ari Karpel said. TV Guide will contribute daily online chats with TV stars and personalities on AOL Live and will provide localized television listings to Digital City, AOL’s network of city guide Web sites in 60 cities. Additionally, TV Guide will customize age-appropriate viewing recommendations for AOL members.
