FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : FOUNTAIN VALLEY
Residents Linda Moulton-Patterson and Jerry Patterson will receive the prestigious Harry S. Truman Award for community service from the Democratic Party of Orange County on Thursday at the Edison Field Home Plate Club in Anaheim.
The political group has granted only three other Truman Awards.
Although nonpartisan throughout much of her career, Moulton-Patterson said she has worked on many Democratic election campaigns, including Gray Davis’ successful gubernatorial bid.
The award recognizes her service as a former California Coastal Commissioner, Huntington Beach Union High School District trustee and former mayor and member of the Huntington Beach City Council, as well as her volunteer work with United Way, Amigos de Bolsa Chica and other local groups.
Her husband, Jerry Patterson, served as Santa Ana’s mayor for two years before he joined the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1985. He is now the vice president of a legislative and public policy consulting firm and serves as a Coast Community College District trustee.
