FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : SANTA ANA
The City Council recently deferred an issue on building skate parks to the Board of Recreation and Parks for further study. The board will review alternative skating locations and possible sponsorships for skate parks.
The issue is expected to be reviewed again by the City Council in November. The council, citing potential hazards to pedestrians, had suggested an ordinance banning people from riding skateboards in the Civic Center Plaza and in some parks. The ordinance prohibits people from riding skateboards or roller skates in Sasscer, Centennial Regional, Rosita, Portola and Cabrillo parks, as well as on sidewalks in the business district.
