Massaro to Head Chamber Group at Saddleback
Joseph Massaro, 35, has been named director of the Chamber Sinfonietta at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, effective immediately.
A recipient of a bachelor’s degree in music education and performance (in clarinet and bassoon) from Cal State Long Beach, Massaro has taught music theory and appreciation for 11 years in the Garden Grove Unified School District and currently teaches musical theater classes at Saddleback.
He also is a regular performer with the Cypress Pops Orchestra and the Downey Civic Light Opera, among other music groups, and is a member of an Orange County woodwind quintet.
The Sinfonietta’s first concert under his direction this season will be a Halloween program Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in McKinney Theatre. It will be followed by a holiday program given with the Saddleback Master Chorale on Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 3 and 7 p.m., also in McKinney Theatre.
