Woman Dies in Fall Off Motorcycle
A female passenger died after falling off a motorcycle on the Hollywood Freeway early Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
Suzanne D. Van Hecke, 43, of North Hollywood, was declared dead at the scene by paramedics, said CHP Officer Ron Cohan.
According to Cohan, Van Hecke was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when its driver, David W. Crown, lost control on the southbound Victory Boulevard onramp about 1:25 a.m. Van Hecke fell off the bike into southbound traffic lanes and Crown pulled her to the right shoulder, Cohan said.
Authorities did not know if a vehicle struck Van Hecke. The county coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. There were no citations or arrests, Cohan said, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
Crown, 41, of North Hollywood, was not treated for injuries, Cohan said.
