Motor racing and fashion aren’t often mentioned in the same breath, but this company certainly aims to change that with a clothing line designed for female fans who don’t mind turning a few heads at the track.

Self-proclaimed as “racy clothing for women,†the line actually isn’t risque, but the marketing campaign doesn’t seem to mind letting you think otherwise.

Enginewear’s line includes shorts, baby-doll T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, a lycra body suit, sweatshirts, a fleece jacket, sports bag and hats, all with the company’s logo, and all in the company’s red-black-and-white color scheme. Prices range from $18 to $55.

The line was launched last year at the Marlboro 500, and will be available at all 15 Penske Motorsports Race Gear stores at California Speedway this weekend.

So, are these clothes for you?

Depends on what you want. Need a jacket? The Crop Fleece Jacket looks stylish and is ideal for “keeping your engine warm,†according to the company’s brochure. How about a hat? Two different styles are available, but be warned: They carry a stitched messaged in addition to the logo (one says “Enjoy the View†in back, the other “Draft This!â€).

In the market for a body suit? Enginewear’s will “have them hitting the brakes.â€

All in all, the clothing looks good, the marketing is unapologetic, and at the very least, female race fans can dress for the event in apparel designed by women and made for women.
