Camarillo 20, Hueneme 19--Hueneme’s Keary Colbert stumbled short of the goal line on a two-point conversion attempt, preserving Camarillo’s victory with 2:25 to play.
Camarillo (1-4-1) took the lead for good, 18-13, in the third quarter on a 36-yard touchdown run by Loren Cerny.
Hueneme (2-4) scored its only points of the second half when running back Lemar Peterson capped a 10-play drive with an 11-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
Camarillo recorded a safety for what proved to be the decisive margin in the third quarter when Justin Schlimgen sacked Viking quarterback Gordie Pinedo in the end zone.
Camarillo rotated Mike Jasper and John Gonzalez at quarterback every series.
Hueneme finished with 240 yards.
Running back Leslie Lee rushed for 101 yards in 11 carries.
