In another South Coast League match:
El Toro 3, Mission Viejo 2--Kristi Tunila had 13 kills for visiting El Toro (5-3, 3-1), which won, 8-15, 15-6, 3-15, 16-14, 15-8. The Chargers trailed in Game 4, 12-1, before rallying to win.
El Toro remained in a first-place tie with San Clemente (5-5, 3-1), which defeated Trabuco Hills, 15-7, 15-4, 15-4.
In the Empire League:
Cypress 3, El Dorado 0--Becky Guess and Amanda Sellers had eight kills each for Cypress (8-2, 4-0), which won, 15-4, 16-14, 15-8. Host El Dorado falls to 8-1, 3-1.
In the Freeway League:
La Habra 3, Sunny Hills 1--Keao Burdine had 11 kills for host La Habra (7-5, 4-0), which won, 15-9, 15-3, 11-15, 15-8. Stevie Nicholas had 18 kills for Sunny Hills (4-5, 3-1).
Sonora 3, Fullerton 2--Alyson Merchant had 21 kills to help Sonora rally to a 10-15, 15-6, 14-16, 15-7, 15-11 victory. Lauren Duggins had 21 kills to lead visiting Fullerton (7-4, 1-3). Sonora improves to 3-6, 2-2.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ volleyball:
No. 8 Corona del Mar 3, University 0--Dimitra Havriluk had 22 kills for Corona del Mar (5-2, 3-0) in a 15-9, 15-7, 15-8 victory. Melissa Zapiain had 16 kills for host University (8-3, 1-2).
In Sunset League girls’ volleyball:
No. 6 Esperanza 3, Marina 0--Kristy Chester had six kills and five aces and Kristen Thompson had six kills to lead Esperanza to a 15-1, 15-13, 15-5 victory. The Aztecs are 9-1, 3-1.
In Sunset League girls’ golf:
No. 6 Esperanza 141, No. 8 Los Alamitos 147--Kayley Parett and Lyndsay Holst each shot a nine-over 46 at Navy Base to lead Esperanza (12-1, 6-0). The Griffins are 8-3, 3-3.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ tennis:
No. 6 Corona del Mar 15, Costa Mesa 3--Kristen Griffith and Brittany Minna swept their singles matches for host Corona del Mar (8-5, 5-0). Costa Mesa is 6-9, 2-3.
In the South Coast League:
No. 5 Dana Hills 12, No. 4 Capistrano Valley 6--Senior Kate Romm set the tone with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 sweep for Dana Hills (11-0, 4-0).
