Young & Rubicam Inc. said David Murphy has succeeded John Hirschboeck as president of Y&R; Advertising, Irvine. Murphy also has been named managing director of the agency’s Lincoln Mercury account. Hirschboeck has assumed the title of director of special projects and planning for Young & Rubicam’s worldwide Ford business. Murphy previously had been head of advertising, promotion and design for Aetna U.S. Healthcare. Before joining Aetna in 1998, he spent 16 years with Ogilvy & Mather. Hirschboeck had been in charge of the Y&R; office three years ago when it moved to Irvine from Detroit.
