Two literary events worth mentioning this week:
Tonight, writer Thomas Keneally, author of “Schindler’s List,” will discuss his new book, “The Great Shame: The Triumph of the Irish in the English-Speaking World,” with author and critic Digby Diehl at 7:30 at the Writers Guild Theater, 135 S. Doheny Drive, Beverly Hills. Tickets are $15; for reservations, call (310) 335-0917. The event is part of the Writers Bloc author series.
“StoryLines California” is a call-in radio show that focuses on California regional literature. On Sunday, the program presents “Ordeal by Hunger,” by George R. Stewart. The program airs at 6 p.m. on KPFK-FM (90.7). To participate in the discussion underway, call (800) 473-4006. Each Sunday through Dec. 26, a book about California will be part of a round-table discussion with authors, experts and listeners.
