Granada Hills 19, Jefferson 6--David DeLeon threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Rodriguez and the Highlanders hung on at Granada Hills.
DeLeon, the Highlanders’ third-string quarterback, connected with Rodriguez with 4:43 left in the third quarter to give Granada Hills (3-1) a 13-6 lead.
Jason Winn, Granada Hills’ starting quarterback, injured a knee in practice and is expected to miss a couple of weeks.
DeLeon, who replaced Bobby Baca late in the first half, completed two of five passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.
The Highlanders outgained Jefferson (1-3) in the first half, 145 yards to 14.
The Democrats tied the score, 6-6, on a four-yard run by John Price early in the third quarter.
Granada Hills’ Robert Ortega had a 36-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
