SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The city’s 12th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place Saturday at the Historic Town Center Park. Twenty-thousand lights will be lit on the city’s 40-foot Cedora Dedorosa, or California Christmas Tree. The living Christmas tree was purchased and planted by the city in 1997 thanks to $2,500 from private donations. The event also will feature Santa Claus, performances from local musicians and community Christmas caroling. City officials are expecting as many as 3,000 residents at the ceremony. The event begins at 5 p.m.
