On the day it was reported that Ottawa has given an ultimatum to its best player, holdout Alexei Yashin, this season’s leading goal-scorer Marian Hossa scored twice and Shawn McEachern added a goal and two assists, helping the Senators to a 6-4 victory over the Thrashers on Sunday at Atlanta.

Hossa scored Ottawa’s third goal in the opening period for a 3-2 lead and added his ninth of the season only 18 seconds into the final period for a 6-3 lead.

The Ottawa Sun reported that Ottawa General Manager Marshall Johnston faxed a letter to Yashin last week informing him that if he doesn’t start to honor the final year of his contract by Nov. 8, he’ll be suspended for the season.
