Flying the Flag

Memorial Day is being observed today around the U.S., prompting more displays of the American flag than on a normal day. Here are a few things to remember if you are displaying the flag at home:

On a Staff

The union, or blue field, should be at the peak of the staff of away from your house.

In a Window

The flag should hang vertically with the union to the left of a person looking at it from the outside.

Special Considerations

* For Memorial Day, fly the flag at half-staff until noon, then hoist it to the top.

* Display the flag from sunrise until sunset.
