The city will spend $90,000 to upgrade the Fire Department’s communications systems through a three-year contract with Westnet Systems Inc. Westnet will repair and replace old parts in the department’s on-call 24-hour communications line. Funds for the first three months of the contract will come from the 1998-99 Fire Department Communications Maintenance and Repair account; the remainder of the funding will come out of the 1999-2000 budget.
