PLACENTIA
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified plans to spend nearly $4 million on mobile classrooms to accommodate an expected influx of students next year. Officials anticipate that 473 to 1,107 students will use the portable classrooms. A single classroom costs about $72,000 to install, including plumbing and other amenities. Some of the trailer-like classrooms are already in place at the high schools. At least 75% of the funding for the portable classrooms will come from Proposition 1A funds, $6 billion in state education funds that has been earmarked for schools.
