The City Council recently granted approval for a 14,000-square-foot transitional living home on North Garfield Street for people with AIDS. Mercy House Transitional Living Centers will build the facility. Mercy has received a $60,000 grant from Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS to develop the home, and the council had approved a $400,000 grant agreement with the center in August 1996. In addition, $1 million will be contributed by HomeAid, a nonprofit corporation of the Building Industry Assn. Information: (714) 667-2200.
