Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car in Ojai
An 84-year-old woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in Ojai while walking across the street, police said.
The Ojai resident, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was crossing Ojai Avenue at Park Road in a marked crosswalk about 3:30 p.m. when a 74-year-old man driving west hit her.
Ventura County sheriff’s officials said they did not know why the driver did not stop at the intersection.
Officials said that they did not plan to charge the driver, whom they did not identify, and that the accident did not appear to be alcohol-related.
The woman was taken to Ojai Valley Community Hospital, where she died.
