Foothill Wins on Verst’s RBI Double

Brett Verst’s double in the eighth inning scored John Stephens and gave Foothill a 4-3 victory in Century League baseball Friday at El Modena.
Foothill led in the seventh inning, 3-2, when El Modena’s Kurt Angier hit a leadoff home run to force extra innings.
Stephens (1-0) finished four for four with a triple and two runs scored, and pitched the last 2 1/3 innings for his first victory.
Foothill’s Mike Castillo had 11 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
