A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint early Friday outside a Moorpark liquor store, authorities said.
The robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Jorge Aguirre shortly after midnight in front of Barakat’s Liquor Store at 411 E. High St., a Ventura County sheriff’s detective said.
Aguirre, a Seattle resident, was sitting in his car when he was approached by a man who asked for $20, Det. Ernie Montagna said. Police were told the robber began to walk away after Aguirre refused to open his door.
Aguirre then left his vehicle and confronted the man, who pointed a handgun at him and demanded money, Montagna said. The robber grabbed the money and ran south from the store.
The robber was described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 150 pounds with brown or black hair and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
