Former Planning Commissioner Philip S. Inglee added another accomplishment to an already long list when he was chosen as foreman of the Orange County Grand Jury this month. As foreman, Inglee will head the watchdog group that ensures the county is governed honestly and efficiently, said Orange County Superior Court manager Gai L. Spickard. The jury also will investigate criminal indictments brought by the district attorney.

For Inglee, 62, the job signifies a culmination of his varied career in business, government and the military. In addition to serving 30 years in the Marine Corps Reserves, Inglee spent 35 years as a banking executive, becoming founding president of Liberty National Bank before retiring in 1997. The New York native sat on the Planning Commission for five years. He begins his one-year term on the jury in July and will be paid $25 a day.
