Microsoft to Donate Cash From Piracy Busts
Microsoft Corp. said it plans to give charities half the cash it recoups in software piracy busts, or at least $25 million over the next five years. Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel for worldwide sales and support, said the software company has seen a rise in the amount of money it has received from the settlement of civil case, criminal asset forfeitures and other penalties against counterfeiters.
