Proposed LAPD Station

Re “Former Alemany High Site Proposed for LAPD Station,” June 17.
Yvette Sanchez-Owens of the LAPD wants to spend $7 million on a temporary police station and administrative office as a “stopgap measure” until funds are available for a permanent structure. How will the LAPD ever have the money if they keep proposing such irresponsible “stopgap” spending? I doubt that Sanchez-Owens would build a temporary house for herself as a stopgap measure until she could afford the permanent house that would meet all her needs. The same thinking should apply to public funds. Spend the $7 million on a permanent police station and then add a permanent administrative office when more funds are available. If that isn’t feasible, invest the $7 million and wait until it grows large enough to pay for an acceptable permanent facility.
