Father Figure?
We have an enormous public health problem in Los Angeles with street people, day laborers and assorted others “doing it†because of inadequate facilities, ignorance and anger.
Now we have Dennis Dugan, Adam Sandler and Columbia Pictures “promoting it†with their witless billboards for “Big Daddy,†apparently driven by an absence of taste and common sense and an abundance of greed. Now we even have The Times “encouraging it†by publication of the film ads and gratuitous publicity, most recently the interview with Dugan (Whatever., by Steve Hochman, June 20).
How many more people, especially the impressionable young men at whom the film is aimed, will soon join in urinating against our doors, walls and public buildings, in violation of the law and what is left of community standards and civic responsibility?
