Coroner Identifies Victims of Car Crash
The six people who were killed Sunday when their van overturned on a Mojave Desert interstate were identified Monday.
They are Benjamin Janolo Kalagayan, 64, of Vallejo, the driver; Nimfa Locso Angeles, 51, of Benicia; Melencia L. Kalagayan, age unknown, of Vallejo; Ananias A. Locso, 85, of National City; Teresita I. Palomar, 67, of San Francisco; and Mariza V. Locso, 43, of Vallejo, the San Bernardino County coroner’s office said Monday.
A flat tire may have caused the van, packed with 10 people, to drift out of control on Interstate 15, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Dennis Gaul said. The group was returning from a Las Vegas excursion.
The crash occurred in Baker, about 155 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
