The City Council will meet today to consider 15 requests for city grants totaling $115,252. Last year, the city funded 12 community organizations at a cost of $45,998.
Requests this year come from organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, which requested $39,000 for a new learning center. Camino Health Centers is requesting $18,000 to provide medical and dental services for low-income residents. Last year, it provided services to more than 1,900 residents. South County Senior Service is requesting $15,000 to provide meals to shut-ins.
Last year, it provided 24,061 meals to seniors in San Juan Capistrano.
