Goerl and the Eagles (29-2), making their first appearance in a section title game, took a 2-0 lead in the third inning against Marissa Young (15-3) with a walk, a single and Casey Smith’s two-run single.
The Eagles added three more runs in the sixth inning on Elena Cranmer’s bases-loaded double.
Young surrendered five hits and struck out 12. Mater Dei, making its third finals appearance in four years, finished 28-5.
