* Site--Soldier Field.

* Radio--KCTD (1540), KTNQ (1020, Spanish).

* Records--Galaxy 11-8, Fire 10-8.

* Record vs. Fire--1-1.

* Update--The teams already have met twice this season, the Fire winning, 1-0, in Chicago on April 17 when Lubos Kubik scored the only goal, and the Galaxy winning, 2-1, at the Rose Bowl on June 12, when Carlos Hermosillo and Simon Elliott scored for Los Angeles. Last season, the Galaxy attracted the Fire’s largest crowd of the season, 37,122, but the star power is missing this time around. Chicago is missing defender C.J. Brown, who is with the U.S. national team, and Chris Armas, the U.S. national team and former Galaxy midfielder, who is sidelined by a ligament sprain in his left knee. Chicago (28 points, tied for second place with the Dallas Burn) is one point ahead of Los Angeles in the Western Conference but has played two fewer games. In two seasons (including playoffs), the Fire is 4-1 against the Galaxy at Soldier Field, and 5-3 overall. The Fire already has won the promotion war with the Galaxy. Ten thousand fans will receive collector soccer pins and today’s game is being followed by a concert featuring Los Tigres del Norte, one of Latin America’s best known and most popular groups. Galaxy promotions of late have featured guys dressed up as mayonnaise jars or large feet.
