Woman Is Shot While Working in Backyard
LANCASTER — An assailant shot a 44-year-old woman three times while she was in the backyard of her home, authorities said Friday.
Latty DiSanzo Hart was checking on her dogs and hanging laundry in her backyard in the 1200 block of Milling Street about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when she heard three popping sounds, said Deputy Jeff Adams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Hart told deputies she felt pain and saw blood on her leg. She ran back into her home, where a family member called police, Adams said.
Hart was treated for gunshot wounds to her waist and legs at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Authorities were trying to determine Friday who shot her and why.
Adams described the area as a peaceful, working-class neighborhood.
