French Boys Choir to Sing in Orange
A boy’s choir from the renowned Lyon Cathedral in France will perform at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Orange at 7:30 tonight.
The 45-member group will sing sacred music spanning the last millennium, from Gregorian chants of the Middle Ages to contemporary musical fare. Its members range in age from 10 to 25 years old.
The free concert is hosted by the American Federation of Pueri Cantores, an international federation of 500 choirs worldwide that involves more than 20,000 singers. The Pueri Cantores choirs have been invited by Pope John Paul II to sing the first Sunday Mass of the new millennium at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
The Cathedral Boy Choir was founded during the reign of Charlemagne in AD 799, making it one of the most enduring performing organizations in history.
The concert will be held at the church, 300 E. Taft Ave. Information: (714) 637-4360.
