Roger Turner Hawk; Retired From Air Force

Roger Turner Hawk of Oxnard died Friday at home after an illness. He was 68.

Born Jan. 9, 1931, in Seattle, Hawk moved to Idaho with his family when he was child.

During summer vacations from school, he worked in the mines with his father. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force.

He settled in Oxnard following retirement from 20 years in the service. He had been stationed in Canada, Montana, Washington and at Oxnard Air Force Base.

Subsequently, he took a job as a communications specialist at Point Mugu Naval Air Station because he enjoyed repairing engines in his spare time. He retired from that job in 1993.
