The city kicked off a new phase in its propaganda war against the county Tuesday by hoisting an anti-airport banner on City Hall. The banner is intended to capitalize on what city officials see as the county’s failure to begin cargo flights from El Toro Marine Corps Air Station now that the military has left. “It’s appropriate to commemorate the fact that the Marine Corps has left the base and the county’s promise that interim cargo use would commence immediately has proven to be false,” Councilman Larry Agran said.
