WESTCHESTER — A $4.5-million day-care center for the children of airport employees and tenant company employees will open Monday at Los Angeles International Airport.
The 9,000-square-foot facility, called First Flight Child Development Center, has five classrooms and capacity for 100 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
The center is paid for with airport revenues, said Tom Winfrey, a spokesman for Los Angeles World Airports. So far, 20 children have been enrolled, and the center is expected to fill quickly.
The center’s buildings, on airport property, surround an outdoor play yard that opens to the Westchester Community Park.
