CalComp to Sell Manufacturing Unit to Maryland Firm
As part of its previously announced intention to liquidate the company, Anaheim-based CalComp Technology Inc. said Wednesday it has agreed to sell its manufacturing division in Scottsdale, Ariz., to a Maryland company.
CalComp, which manufactures computer graphics products, did not disclose the terms of the deal with GTCO Corp. It is expected to close in February. The Input Technologies Division has 150 employees and manufactures graphic tablets for artists, Web designers and the entertainment industry.
CalComp, which struggled for years after being spun off by aerospace and defense giant Lockheed Martin Corp., is trying to sell its division in Sunnyvale, which develops and manufactures inkjet printers for the graphics industry.
Last week, the company, which has about 250 employees in its Anaheim office, said it will terminate 450 people by the end of the month.
