Exec Makes Quantum Shift to ATL

* Neal Waddington has been appointed chief operating officer of ATL Products in Irvine. Waddington joins ATL from Quantum Corp., where he was vice president and general manager of the Storage Systems division. His affiliation with ATL began in May when Quantum announced it would acquire ATL Products. Waddington was responsible for the transition of Quantum’s storage automation products and associated business activities into ATL Products.

* Stephen A. Garcia has been appointed corporate controller of Incomnet Inc. in Irvine. He had been assistant controller of Incomnet’s subsidiary, Incomnet Communications Corp., since 1997. Before that, Garcia was the divisional controller for Melles Griot Inc.

* John Gatzke has been named assistant chief lending officer for Downey Savings and Loan Assn. in Newport Beach. He had been director of wholesale lending. In addition, Rob Corbin has joined the S&L; as director of retail loan production.

* Mike Metro has joined Hi-Val Inc. in Santa Ana as vice president of marketing. Metro has more than 18 years’ marketing and sales experience at consumer electronics companies such as Brother International Corp., Fuji Photo Film USA and PNY Electronics. Most recently, he was an independent sales and marketing consultant.

* Andrea Weber has been appointed head executive for the customer service department of Balboa Capital Corp. in Irvine. Weber, who has been with the company three years, previously supervised the internal funding department. Before that, she was with Roush Anatrol.

* Thomas A. Stites has been appointed to the new position of senior vice president of communications for Conexant Systems Inc. in Newport Beach, the former Rockwell Semiconductor Systems business recently spun off as a separate company from Rockwell International Corp. Stites was formerly vice president of communications for Advanced Micro Devices in Sunnyvale.

* Johanna Nicole has joined Waters & Faubel in Newport Beach as account executive. She was previously with Westar Capital, a private equity investment firm in Costa Mesa.

* Paul Mikos has been appointed to the board of trustees of Loyola Marymount University. Mikos is president and chief executive of RemedyTemp Inc. in Aliso Viejo.

* Karen Mittel has joined Thomas P. Cox Architects in Irvine as senior designer. She previously held an architecture/planning position with JBZ Dorius, where she designed single-family projects for Laing Homes. Mittel has also held positions with Teller Manok Architects, the Jerde Partnership and Kwan Development Corp.

* Mary Keenan and David Park have become partners at Balser, Horowitz, Frank & Wakeling in Santa Ana. Keenan, who works primarily with small businesses and churches, had been accounting manager. She is the first woman partner in the 62-year-old firm. Park, formerly tax manager, specializes in tax planning and compliance.

* Francesco Liburdi has joined Circuit Assembly Corp. in Irvine as director of new product marketing. He was formerly with Wearnes Hollingsworth in Endicott, N.Y.

* Michael F. Sitzer and Penelope Parmes are new partners in the law firm of Rutan & Tucker LLP in Costa Mesa. Both are in the financial, banking and commercial practice group. Sitzer, formerly a partner with Loeb and Loeb in Los Angeles, specializes in real estate and commercial law. Parmes’ practice focuses on representing creditors in insolvency and bankruptcy matters.

* Barrett Eiselman has been named general manager of the Spa South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. He was vice president of WTS International in Silver Spring, Md., where his responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of 13 corporate and hotel-based health/tennis clubs.

* Ivo A. Tjan has been appointed vice president, commercial loans, for Eldorado Bank in Huntington Beach. He formerly managed a financial service center for Home Savings of America. Tjan’s experience also includes branch management for Great Western Bank.

* Richard Bigelow has joined IPNet Solutions Inc. in Newport Beach as product manager. Bigelow was previously with Unisys Corp. as a product developer and principal software engineer and with Burroughs Corp. as a software and hardware engineer.

* Rebecca Basnett has been named sales manager, handling specialty group markets, for the Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County. She had been with the Doubletree Hotel Orange County Airport, where she was sales manager for four years, specializing in the corporate meetings market.

* Lei Lei Wang Ekvall has been selected as the 1999 chair of the Orange County Bar Assn.’s commercial law and bankruptcy section. Ekvall is with the law firm of Albert, Weiland & Golden LLP in Costa Mesa.

* William B. Probert has been appointed executive vice president, sales and marketing, for WL Homes LLC in Irvine. He was previously vice president of sales and marketing at Hearthside Homes, a division of Koll Communities; executive vice president, sales and marketing, for Brookfield Davidson Homes; and vice president, sales and marketing, for Presley of San Diego.
