Former DePaul coach Ray Meyer, still stung over his son’s firing from the school, will skip Saturday’s ceremony inducting his 1978-79 Final Four team into the university’s athletic Hall of Fame.
“It’s just too hard for me at this time,” said Meyer, who retired in 1984 with a 724-354 record and was replaced by his son, Joey. “I know it’s [strange] that I won’t be there, but that’s only one night of my life.”
Less than two years ago, DePaul fired the younger Meyer after the Blue Demons were 3-23.
