In another league game:
Santa Ana 58, Westminster 47--Santa Ana took a 15-3 lead after one quarter, but had to come back at home after a third quarter Westminster rally led the Lions (0-1 in league) to a two-point lead. Forward Darnell Graham scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds for Santa Ana (8-8, 1-0) and Rene Cabrera added 20 points.
In the Garden Grove League:
Pacifica 84, Bolsa Grande 67--Brian Girard and Kenny Walbecker scored 20 points each for Pacifica (14-1, 1-0), which made 24 of 28 free throws.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 61, Trabuco Hills 54--Jeremy Cooley scored 19 points and Brett Nowell had nine for the host Dolphins (8-9, 1-0). Evan Fields had 16 points and Brandon Martin 15 for Trabuco Hills (10-7, 0-1).
In nonleague boys’ basketball:
No. 4 Brea Olinda 82, El Modena 46--Jerett Skrifvars scored 15 points and had 17 rebounds and Ryan Wilber scored 15 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the Wildcats (14-2). Kyle Dodd scored 11 points and had eight assists for Brea.
No. 5 Newport Harbor 58, Aliso Niguel 39--Matt Jameson scored 12 of his 20 points in the first half to help Newport Harbor to a 22-point lead. Dustin Illingworth scored 18 points for the Sailors (15-2).
El Dorado 53, Valencia 51 (OT)--Brad Onishi hit a three-pointer with 2.9 seconds left in the game to lift El Dorado, which trailed, 28-19, at the half. Ryan Carlos scored 23 points for the Golden Hawks.
Fountain Valley 52, Laguna Hills 40--Zach Hardin scored 24 points, including six three-pointers, to lead Fountain Valley (10-5). Jeff Eittereim scored 21 for Laguna Hills.
Los Alamitos 55, Cypress 50--Cypress couldn’t come closer than within five in the fourth quarter after Los Alamitos took a 12-point lead in the third. Ronnie Prettyman scored 15 points and Jeff Grgas had 15 points and six rebounds for Los Alamitos (10-5)..
Santa Fe Springs St. Paul 61, University 60--Andy Lawrence missed two free-throws with 2.9 seconds left in the game to hand St. Paul (9-7) the victory. University trailed, 37-18, in the second quarter, but rallied to come within one in the fourth. Chet Johnson scored 22 points and Larry Brown had 19 for the Trojans (9-6).
Villa Park 71, Huntington Beach 32--Alex Will scored 18 points, including three three-pointers, and Tommy Stankan had 10 of his 12 points in Villa Park’s 28-point second quarter.
