Considered by coaches to be Hart’s best center since 1990, when the Indians had Tim DeGroote, an All-Southern Section selection. Equality effective as a run and pass blocker.

A three-year, two-way starter, Garlington played in 42 varsity games. He was a key performer in one of the region’s most balanced offenses. Taft gained more than 2,200 yards both rushing and passing.

Fought through injuries to help tailback Major Caldwell set a school rushing record with 1,591 yards. An All-Northwest Valley Conference and All-City selection.

A two-way starter at guard and defensive tackle, Smith was selected Golden League lineman of the year fo the league champions. Littlerock’s student body president.

Led City Section running backs from the region by rushing for 1,855 yards and 18 touchdowns. Was a standout linebacker on a defense that posted four shutouts.

Despite nagging illnesses and injuries, rushed for a Valley-best 1,925 yards. Averaged 7.2 yards per carry and rushed for 20 touchdowns as Valencia reached section semifinals for the first time.

John Wall / Biringham

Kicker

A soccer goalkeeper, he has quickly become a top long-range kicker. Kicked three field goals from beyond 50 yards. Made 15 field goals and scored 58 of the Patriots’ 150 points.

Defense

Ray Cassaday / Valencia

Line

A converted line-backer, Cassaday led Valencia in sacks and was second in tackles. Emerged as one of the region’s best fullbacks, rushing for 664 yards and nine touchdowns.

Pat Norton / Hart

Line

Moved from line-backer after the sixth game of the season, and Hart won the next eight in a row. “A great athlete for a big guy,” said Dean Herrington, a Hart assistant.

A dominating pass rusher, he made 30 sacks the last two years. Caught 25 passes at tight end and threw game-winning touchdown pass in first-round playoff victory over San Pedro.

Made a school-record 149 tackles as the Lobos won first Golden League title. A three-time all-league choice and most valuable player this season. “A great leader and a winner,” Coach Jim Bauer said.

Scott Hunt / Hart

Linebacker

A three-time all-Foothill League selection, he led Hart with 109 tackles, bringing his career total to 302, second-best in school history. Dominant after recovering from a pulled hamstring.

John Perry / Chaminade

6-0, 223, Senior

Linebacker

Made 165 tackles, including 28 for losses. An avid weightlifter, he can squat 600 pounds and power-clean 315 pounds.

Bryson Atkins / Alemany

5-11, 182, Senior

Back

Hard-hitting safety made five interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown. At receiver, he made 25 catches for 438 yards and three touchdowns.

Kyle Cremarosa / Burroughs

Back

Made four interceptions and returned three for touchdowns, his longest 91 yards. At receiver, he made 57 catches for 1,126 yards and 11 touchdowns. A straight-A student.

Peter Gunny / Granada Hills

Made six interceptions, returning them 165 yards. At receiver, he made 59 receptions and scored 15 touchdowns. Chosen Northwest Valley Conference offensive player of the year.

Made three interceptions from his safety position. At running back, rushed for 1,152 yards. Led City players from the region with 25 touchdowns.
