Police Name Suspect in Killing of 2 Guards

COMPTON — Police pleaded for help Tuesday in the hunt for an alleged gang member who detectives suspect killed two security guards and critically wounded two more at a low-income housing complex in Compton.

Based on eyewitness reports, investigators suspect that David James Livingston, 23, of Lynwood, carried out Sunday’s ambush at the New Wilmington Arms complex.

Livingston, an alleged member of a Compton street gang, is also wanted in connection with an unrelated shooting in October in which a rival gang member was wounded, said Compton Police Lt. Danny Sneed. Livingston should be considered “armed and extremely dangerous,” Sneed said.

Police described Livingston as white, 5-feet-9 and 175 pounds. He wears his hair in a ponytail, and has a large birthmark on the left side of his face and a mole on his right cheek. He has a tattoo, “PVC,” on the left side of his neck. He also is known as “Goldie.”

All four security men were inside the housing complex’s guardhouse when they were shot around 5:25 a.m. Sunday, police said. Roderico Paz, 62, and Remigio Malinao, 49, were killed. Rodolso Bombarda, 52, and Saul Connor Martinez, 59, were critically wounded.

Officials at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center said Tuesday that Bombarda remained in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen. He was scheduled to be transferred to another facility.

Martinez remained in critical but stable condition with a head wound but had regained consciousness and was following some simple commands, a hospital spokeswoman said.
