Mistaken Map

Thank you for your informative article on Peru (“Altitude Adjustment,” Dec. 13). But it is the map that really got my attention. The last I checked, it was about 2,200 miles from the Chilean border along the coast to Ecuador. According to your map it now is only about 110 miles.
May we also divide the air fare and hotel rates by 20?
