STEPHEN DANIELS HOUSE (circa 1667), Salem, Mass.

Three-story captain’s house, built 25 years before the Salem witchcraft trials.

HEWICK PLANTATION (circa 1678), Urbanna, Va.

Flemish brick structure that served as base for tobacco plantation.

WILLIAM PENN GUEST HOUSE (circa 1682), New Castle, Del.

Penn’s host here witnessed the ceremony in which the colonial leader gained the three “lower counties†that became Delaware.

JONAS GREEN HOUSE B&B; (circa 1690), Annapolis, Md.

Maryland Gazette newspaper was produced here, starting in 1745.

PENNY HOUSE INN (circa 1690), Eastham, Mass.

Built by Capt. Isaiah Horton. Guest room motto: “Coil up your ropes and anchor here, til better weather doth appear.â€

GREAT VALLEY HOUSE OF VALLEY FORGE (circa 1691), Malvern, Pa.

Stone farmhouse older than house that George Washington stayed in during Valley Forge encampment.

DAN’L WEBSTER INN (circa 1692), Sandwich, Mass.

Originally a parsonage; later addition operated as a patriot headquarters during Revolution.

ASHLEY MANOR INN (circa 1699), Barnstable, Mass.

Thought to be a hiding place for Tories during Revolutionary War. A secret passageway connects upstairs and downstairs suites.
