San Francisco Second Worst in Flight Delays

WASHINGTON — San Francisco International was the nation’s second worst airport for flight delays last year, after being only third worst in 1997. Newark International was the worst for the third year in a row. San Francisco had 29,409 delayed flights in 1998, or 6.8% of its total flights, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Newark International Airport had 31,924 delays, or about 6.9%. The FAA labels a flight as late if it is delayed 15 minutes or more.
