Laguna Hills High School’s academic decathlon team dominated the county competition Wednesday, bringing home 55 medals and outscoring all schools by about 5,000 points. The Laguna Hills Hawks as a team placed first in essay, super quiz, fine arts, math, economics, art and social science competitions. Seniors Kony Kim and Peter Goff were gold medalists, with senior Cindy Chang and junior Eric Talevich taking silver medals, and Allison Barrett taking the bronze. The Hawks, ranked third in the state and fifth in the nation, will compete at the state competition March 11.
