Simi Phull faked the goalkeeper to the ground then fired a left-footed shot into the far right corner of the net on a breakaway with five minutes left in the game and Sunny Hills stopped Sunset League-champion Edison, 2-1, in a second-round Division II girls’ soccer game Tuesday at Sunny Hills.
Edison took a 1-0 lead on Amber Prestegard’s goal in the 29th minute, but Sunny Hills battled back with a goal from Renee Garand, who scored on a header in the 57th minute off of a pass from Phull. Phull has 18 assists and 26 goals for the Lancers (19-3-6). Ashley Moskovich made nine saves, five in the second half for host Sunny Hills.
