CAMARILLO — Sheriff’s deputies and dogs searched a Kmart on Tuesday night for an armed man who robbed a nearby discount cigarette store.
Displaying a handgun, the man robbed Cigarettes Cheaper of an undisclosed amount of cash shortly after 7 p.m., officials said. He then ran from the store, across the parking lot and into the Kmart.
Witnesses confirmed that the man entered the Kmart, but he was not seen leaving, Sheriff’s Sgt. Chuck Buttell said.
Deputes evacuated the store and cordoned off the Central Plaza shopping center, at the corner of Arneill Road and Ponderosa Drive.
