LAGUNA NIGUEL — The car that crossed a median and collided head-on with another vehicle Wednesday, killing three people, was traveling at more than 90 mph, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Friday.
Marco Relis, 16, a sophomore at San Clemente High School, was driving a northbound on the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor in Laguna Niguel about 6:30 p.m. when his car crossed the median of the toll road and struck a southbound car.
Marco died at the scene, as did Magdalena Ramirez Flores, 28, and her 6-year-old son, Christian, who were passengers in the other car. The driver of the other vehicle, 43-year-old Rogelio Uribe, was seriously injured and was in fair condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.
Marco’s passenger, David Nguyen, 15, was seriously injured and remained hospitalized Friday at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Mission Viejo.
