Victim in Fatal Crash Identified
The passenger who died in a car crash in Sylmar early Sunday has been identified as a 20-year-old man from the Van Nuys area, police said Monday.
Arturo Martinez was killed and three other men were critically injured when their 1993 Ford Thunderbird veered out of control on Polk Street near San Fernando Road. The injured victims were Gustavo Jacinto, 21; Alejandro Alcarez, 22; and Eduardo Lopez, 20, all from the Van Nuys area.
Their injuries are not life-threatening and doctors said they will recover, said Det. Mario Santana of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.
