A section of Highway 118 north of Oxnard was closed for more than five hours Monday after a 58-year-old woman lost control of her van and hit a power pole near North Clubhouse Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Deanna Quinn, whose van careened into a ditch, was removed from her vehicle with a mechanical extraction device and was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, officials said.

Nursing supervisor Don Lake said Quinn suffered moderate injuries and was in stable condition Monday night.

The accident occurred at 3:40 p.m., and the two-lane highway was closed from Rose to Santa Clara avenues while a Southern California Edison crew worked to repair downed power lines caused by the crash.

CHP officials reopened one lane of the highway just west of Saticoy around 9 p.m. The accident also caused a power outage in and around the Saticoy Country Club for several hours, authorities said.
