Attorney Suspected in 4 Bank Holdups Arrested
PASADENA — A Los Angeles attorney was arrested Friday on suspicion that he is the gunman responsible for four Pasadena bank robberies since January.
Steven Hyun Kim, 31, was arrested at his home in Los Angeles by Pasadena police detectives.
Police allege Kim held up the Bank of America at the corner of Lake Avenue and Colorado Boulevard twice and a Wells Fargo bank about a block south on Lake Avenue twice.
Kim is believed to have gotten several thousand dollars in each heist, said Pasadena Police Lt. Keith Jones.
During Kim’s arrest, officers discovered what they believe to be heroin in his possession, Jones said, but no drug charges were filed, pending testing. Police recovered two handguns he allegedly displayed to bank tellers during the heists.
Kim is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on the bank robbery charges. Jones said investigators pieced together bits of information from each holdup to zero in on Kim.
