A 50-year-old teacher is scheduled to be arraigned today in Antelope Municipal Court on charges he raped a 13-year-old female student more than a year ago at a Palmdale school.
Wayne Martin of Palmdale surrendered to Los Angeles county sheriff’s deputies Tuesday after a two-month investigation.
He will be charged with forcible rape and lewd acts with a minor under 14, said Sheriff’s Deputy Carrie Stuart.
Bail was set at $110,000.
The rape occurred in January 1998 at a school in the Palmdale School District, where Martin worked as a teacher.
He allegedly lured the girl into an office and raped her, Stuart said.
Martin was suspended from work a month after the alleged rape. Authorities do not believe there are any other rape victims at the school, Stuart said.
